| as
i said yesterday, i'm listing my five favourite albums and telling
a little story about them.
yo
la tengo - i can hear the heart beating as one.
i heard this album
for the first time while i was in my last year of high school.
i've always been a sucker for shoegazer bands like my bloody valentine
and spacemen 3 and also lush, emotional music like belle and sebastian
and burt bacharach. up until i heard this for the first time i
never found a album that had both elements so perfectly put together.
i know that this isn't much of a story but it's hard to say anything
specific cause i've been listening to this album steady for seven
years. there are very few albums in my collection that are that
old and still worth listening to or that i'm not sick of hearing.
pitchfork gives it a 9.7, which is pretty frickin' good. it's
also on the 500 greatest albums rated by rolling stone.
i can remember not owning it for so long cause it wasn't easy
to find and hmv sold it as a import so the price was something
like 29.99. i just couldn't imagine spending that much money on
a cd that i knew came from new york. but now that i have it i
know that it's worth ten times that amount.
you can listen
to it here.
