forgot to mention yesterday's posting was number seventy. i didn't
really think that i would get this far. i'm glad that some people
are actually checking the site out and seeing my pictures. thank
you.
this was from a set of pictures that i took at midnight a couple
of summers back. this is just outside my house and i love the
lights from the car passing by. i tried to post it earlier but
dust prevented it from being seen by anybody.
so reading this book has made me think about what music means
to me and more importantly my favorite albums. so for the next
five entries i will count down my favorites and a little story
about them.
number five.
weezer
- pinkerton.
i don't really remember when i first heard this album but i was
totally not into weezer. back in high school when they became
really popular i hated them and never really gave them a chance.
back then i was listening to sebadoh and eric's trip and thought
that i was hardcore, and weezer was so not hardcore enough for
me. i read a interview with someone and they were talking about
weezer and how they were convinced that they were a band made
up by the record label targeting the 'grunge' teen market. so
that stuck in my head along with my general distaste for the people
who liked them until people i knew started asking me if i heard
this new weezer album. i was like 'no, i hate weezer, they suck,
why would i like the new album'. but the response i always got
was that this one was different. well, this happened alot. person
after person said that i should check it out cause it was really
good. and these were people who shared my long held view of weezer.
finally i did hear it. i was not totally convinced that it was
so hot. but i heard it again and then heard again and suddenly
i could get it out of my head. every song was better than the
next. it was sounding better and better every time that i heard
it and i heard it alot, playing it for the next six months. it
is honest, real and emotional.
you can listen to some tracks here
at allmusic.
i'm sorry about my grammar and spelling. english was never my
strong suit, so forgive me please. |
